IVERES – Identification, Verification & Response to Disinformation

IVERES ("Identificación, Verificación y Respuesta") is a collaborative technical project led by UC3M’s Department of Informatics and developed with UAB, UPC, UGR, RTVE and other partners, aimed at combating fake news across digital media. The initiative focuses on building tools for identifying misinformation, verifying content credibility, and enabling rapid responses in democratic contexts :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}.

  • Designed to support fact-checkers, especially RTVE’s “Verifica” unit.
  • Awarded "Proyecto público" in the II National Informatics Engineering Awards by the Spanish Council of Informatics Colleges (April 8, 2024) :contentReference[oaicite:2]{index=2}.

The platform combines advanced machine learning with metadata analysis to offer scalable verification tools for broadcasters, journalists, and researchers dealing with high volumes of misinformation.

Leading team: Prof. José María Álvarez Rodríguez (UC3M). Collaborators from UAB, UPC, UGR, RTVE, and more.

Recognition: Awarded as a leading public project in the 2024 national awards against disinformation by the Consejo General de Colegios de Ingeniería Informática.
