LOTAR – Long-Term Archiving & Retrieval
LOTAR (Long-Term Archiving & Retrieval) focuses on the development of standardised, tool-agnostic workflows and processes for the long-term storage and retrieval of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) data. It ensures the preservation, interoperability, and reuse of engineering models in safety-critical domains such as aerospace, automotive, and defence.
- Standardises processes for archiving CAD, PDM, MBSE, simulation, and 3D visualisation data.
- Organised into multiple technical workgroups and real-world industrial pilots.
KR-UC3M's role: The Knowledge Reuse group contributes to MBSE-based workflows for long-term digital certification. It supports metadata structuring, traceability management, and the interoperability of engineering artefacts across the system lifecycle.
Status: Active, with periodic workshops and technical contributions to international standardisation efforts.
